Civ V epic multiplayer campaign sign up

Yes, yes, I know it is still a week away but just interested to see who would want to take part in a multiplayer campaign. Also which Civ do you think you will play as?

We can also discuss map size (may depend on number of people interested) what 'age' to start at as well.

I believe I will play as either Egypt or Japan with a possibility of Persia.

I'll play as China, Japan or Babylon depending on what special stuff they get and what everyone else picks

I agree starting from the very beginning is more fun but it makes the game extremely long, which i am fine with but others may not be.

Also is Babylon a civilization? Can't see it in the list.

You have to order the Deluxe edition or whatever it's called to get it, Nebuchadnezzar II (spelling?!) is the leader guy

oooh and game soundtrack too... is it worth a bit more money? hmmm will have to decide

I'll get it, not really sure what I'll play as. Haven't played to much of Civ before. Probably Americans.

I've tried Civ 2 once as a kid, never played any of the games beyond that

I only played the console verison they made a while back. And I get the feeling it was nothing like the civ games on the computer. You'll all probably beat me, so please spare my incredibly stupid and poor nation.

I think if you pre purchase the normal version off steam it gives you all that to.

Possibly in america but not in Europe sadly, only bonus for the normal one from steam is a Mesopotamia map pack.

Hmm is there turnbased multiplayer? In the vids I've watched they've only mentioned the take-turns-at-the-same-time multiplayer.

Yes I should think it is all the same time as it would get forever if i did my turn, then you did yours, then tallen, then owen. That would take about an hour in later on in the game

Of course they can't move onto the next turn until everyone is done so its all good in my opinion.

Oh you can't? Then it's alright I guess... I was just worried people would get to the medieval era before I had decided where to put my settlement

Nah from what i have read so far, you get 40 seconds for your first move so when the time runs out everyones turn ends, then the time each turn gradually increases each turn.

I don't know if I'll get it yet, but If I do I'll probably play Random . Never saw much difference in the races.

when I get my computer in just over two weeks I will happily join you guys!

This sounds fun. Not sure who I would play as though... Random?

Yeah reading the manual you can turn it off or on, not sure about changing the amount of time though, personally I would prefer it off so can make proper decisions rather than rushed ones.

To Jax and Volar it will be great if you both get the game and take part. Also the difference between Civs is subtle but can have a big effect. For example if you play as Japan you will have the Samurai unit in the mid-game giving you a great advantage military wise, whereas if you play as the Germans you will get the Panzer tank rather than just a tank giving you a strong advantage in the late game.

Ability wise, if you play as Aztecs you can build 'wonders' quicker giving an advantage to win a cultural victory as after the early stages you have no special military units. Then there are others who receive more influence with city states etc.

So although small differences between them they can make a big difference so before picking you should decide which kind of victory you will be aiming for and then check which civs will help you most towards that victory.

Sure, i'll just have to do a bit more reading about the races to figure out which one suits my play-style best.

The demo should be on steam today to download but I will be waiting until Friday to play the full game, it is pre-loaded from steam

I'll probably download the demo. I've never really played Civilization so I'd like a little practice before I get the full game

If i downloaded the demo I would not get anymore work done on my course this week
