| First off, from what I hear Demon Souls really isn't an RPG. Just a game you die a lot in. Though I guess it's good fun. Fable 3 is both good and bad. The frame rate drops are TERRIBLE! It's still a good game, though not as compelling or you know fun as the other 2. And your time spent as king is way way way way to short. I don't know why they marketed that so much you can be king, when honestly you're barely king at all.
As for other RPGS, first off is NWN 2. It's an older one but it's still quite fun. If you can get past the werid controls and some plot holes it's quite fun. It's like an early Dragon Age in the D&D universe. Though to be honest I wouldn't bother with the expansions, I found both of them to be boring. I can't really get into to them. Except Storms of Zethir, which I'm gradually making my way through.
Another is King Arthur: The Roleplaying Wargame. It's a mixture of the Total War Series with RPG elements. As you progress through the campaign your actions affect your kingdom. Whether you choose christian or the old religion affects what units you have, the knights in your command, and your spells. There's also some more stuff, but you can go read the description on steam. I found the story to be compelling, plus I like the music.
I can't vouch for it because it's not out in America yet, been out in europe since November. But Two Worlds 2 is supposed to be nice and has gotten generally good reviews across board. Plus the PC graphics on high look very shiny.
Edit: Also if you haven't check out the Witcher.

| I really enjoyed deamon souls and yes I did die a fair bit i still progressed, its all about learning patterns and using the environment. Iv beaten powerful enemies just by making them fall off a cliff as they chased me . As for Fable three I hated it. It felt tedious and time consuming but not in the good way. | |

| I guess I would go for Fable 3. I am a Fable fan.
The thing with Fable is you are either a fan or not.
It's not very epic story wise, but its mechanics are where it stands out.

| The only one I could really suggest is Fallout 3, if you can get your hands on a GOTY edition with all the DLC then your looking at a ton of gameplay time, and a lot of very interesting quests. | |

I'd agree with this if you haven't played fallout 3 already. I absolutely loved it, I enjoyed it a lot more than Oblivion, oddly enough. I spent hours working my way through the storyline and side missions, and the DLC adds a an awful lot to the game. My friend had a lot of fun making a completely contradictory character that specialised in stealth and explosives - he was sneaking around with rocket launchers, and sneaking mines and grenades into people's pockets. As far as the two you've mentioned. One of my friends has played Demon's Souls, says its very good. It's also apparently rather difficult. This same friend also highly recommended Last Remnant and Folklore as being great rpgs. I haven't honestly heard much about Fable 3, I played and enjoyed the first one. But I hear it's gone downhill a bit since then. To be honest, I'm a fan of old school rpgs like Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate 2.

Alpha Protocol yeah the dialogue isn't exactly bioware standard and the gameplay can get a bit too easy at times but's it's a fun game, you should try it
i enjoyed the conversation system on that game. I enjoyed the way you could specialise, like I made a stealthy martial artist. What I did not enjoy were the forced encounters. Yes, force me in to a boss fight that requires guns and in which I can't use stealth. That was a barrel of laughs... >.>

| Oh there was nothing wrong with the system it was just some of the voice acting was a bit eh... But that can be said for most games I suppose. And I'm totally with you on the forced stuff.. I try infiltrating that CIA listening post with 0(!) points in stealth... that's fun And then you realize that even though the quest says you need to sneak in and out without them noticing you can shoot the place up with tranq-darts without anyone complaining... But it was a fun game overall | |

| I loved Alpha Protocol, The only thing for me was the fact that pistol was super overpowered in the game. I played through twice, once as a heavy armor, assault rifle wielding guy and another stealth with pistol. And the pistol special attack where I can line up like 6 head shots in a row just destroyed any boss I came across. My stealthy guy could destroy my heavy armor guy in a gun fight any day -_- | |

| If you haven't tried Dragon Age: Origins, you should try that. If sticking to your two choices, I can only vouch for fable 3. Good fun, but there are some issues in there that others have already explained. | |
