First off The Warriors is one of my favorite movies of all time (top 5). And guess what....
THEY ARE DOING A REMAKE SET TO COME OUT NEXT YEAR!!
"But if it's one of your favorite movies of all time, why would you want to see a remake?" If you find yourself asking that. Here is my answer.
It's more of a remaking, it's a revisioning. It's still going to have the same premise (if you seen the movie you know what it is). But it has many significant changes. Here they are (the ones that are known so far)
O means Original Warriors. N means New Warriors
1) Location
O: Took place in New York.
N: Takes place in Los Angeles
2) Authenticity
O: Everybody was an actor
N: Uses real gangsters (not the main cast of course but the extras)
That's all that's really be released so far, I think.
No news on the cast yet.
The director is Tony Scott (Directed: Man on Fire, Top Gun, and Days of Thunder)
No news on the writers either.
People are complaining that the warriors are "NYC". I agree the
ORIGINAL Warriors were NYC but! That was 3 years ago, most of the people seeing it this time around haven't seen it. Warriors were popular due to real locations fans could connect to, like Coney Island, The Bronx, and Queens. And it goes the same this time around for us over here in Los Angeles (SUCK IT NEW YORK!) It will have places like Hollywood, Burbank, Los Angeles, Downtown, Chinatown, Compton, Inglewood, Lakewood, ect all places I know and love (some more then others).
The fact that it has real factoral gangs in it makes it better, because it not only makes it more realistic, but I can connect to it because I have to deal with that crap in my neighborhood (I don't like gangs but I am loving how a film beyond documentories is going to shine a light on how shitty Los Angeles can be, but how great it can be at the same time.)
"What about the subway seen" LA has subways.
Bottom line I can't wait for it to come out.
Here is a poster
Also forgot to mention that the Baseball furies are confirmed to make a return.
