SW:TOR Update 21/8/10 - Fan Friday and Starships

Well, today we receive two updates. A fan friday (most of which is boring and adds nothing to the game, except for one part which is about the Advanced Classes). The second update is a new Holonet section dedicated for Starships. They've added in the two Starships we've seen so far, with a little description, a nice little video (which we've already seen), and a bunch of concept art shots and screenshots. I'd also like to point out that they have changed the Jedi Starship from "Corellian Vanguard-class Corvette", to "Corellian Defender-class Corvette", no doubt because they've made an Advanced Class called the Trooper Vanguard. Still, each Starship entry has a screenshot showing exactly how BIG these babies are. They are quite enormous, looking more like small capital ships than fighters/patrol vehicles. No complaints from me, though, although I wouldn't mind having some smaller fighters to use. From the new Holonet section, it seems that at the official launch, there will only be six different ships available for the classes, one ship for the Trooper, one ship for the Smuggler, etc.

Onto Advanced Classes. Nothing here has really changed at all, except they've added what the classes will specialise in. Right now, out of the Trooper Advanced Classes, I'm definitely leaning more towards Vanguard, as they specialise in Blaster Rifles, over Heavy Blaster Cannons, and are the more tanking class out of the two. Just a note, on the Advanced Class update, they specifically wrote: "Please be aware that since the specific class details are still under development, the information provided below may be subject to change". This was no doubt from the negativity received towards the Jedi Wizard and the like. Hopefully it will change.

Just a final note. Now, with the addition of the Starship Holonet section, seven of the eight Holonet sections have been created, with only one so far remaining empty. So, that says to me that pretty much all updates we're going to receive to the release date, that can go into the Holonet, will be around the seven ones we have received so far, except for when the new section finally comes into play. We're definitely counting down the months now, people.

I agree where you say the ships look quite enormous. Looking at the screenshots they look more of a freighter rather then a fighters or something.

Now I'm tempted to go with the Scoundrel side of the Smuggler, even though it would require me re-writing my back-story a little. I am curious to see what the remaining ships look like, though I have a feeling I'm not going to like what they've got in plan for the smuggler.

If you watch the Space Combat video, you catch glimpses and bits and pieces of the remaining ships. The Smuggler ship looks similar to the Millennium Falcon, just changed around a bit. I have to say, I'm not really a fan of the Trooper ship either. Too many wings. If I was to choose any ship, it'd have to be the Fury-class Interceptor, or the Imperial Agent ship. They look nice and sleek.
