New Time Line- Jedi Civil War

We also got a new time line yesterday about the Jedi Civil War and Revan. Definitely some interesting stuff in there about Revan's actions.

Yes, as Rasper stated, I am not happy with the new timeline whatsoever. BioWare are pretty much just pissing on what KotOR II established, and make Revan's character far more black and white, dull and uninteresting. I refuse to believe that he served the Sith Emperor. Kreia, his first and last teacher, already established that he "fell" to the dark side as a necessity, as he found the True Sith Empire in the unknown regions. Knowing that this was the greatest threat the galaxy had ever faced, he returned to Republic space with an Empire of his own to topple and take over the Republic, so that they would be strong enough to counter the Sith Empire when it arrived. That is what I am still believing, no matter how much BioWare likes to retcon already established canon.

Well they aren't totally disregarding KOTOR II in the way that Revan still remembers the Sith Empire after KOTOR I and goes off to try to stop it. They are sort of retconing the part you mentioned about what Kreia said.

However if I remember correctly Kreia was just making assumptions; she didnt truly know why Revan did what he did and was just speculating. The same can sort of be said for the Jedi master doing the holorecordings(forgot his name). He says that Revan met the Emperor and then returned to the galaxy trying to conquer it. This doesn't necessarily mean that Revan "fell" just as the Emperor planned. Perhaps Revan was a double agent of sorts in that he was under the guise of conquering the galaxy while he was really trying to strengthen it for the inevitable Sith invasion.

Well, we shall no doubt see in time. However, I feel I prefer to trust the word of Revan's greatest teacher, his first and his last, who formed him into what he was, and someone who could see thousands of years into the future (even predicting the death of the Mandalorians), as well as who predictions almost always came true, over some Jedi Master who is recording these things as the Jedi see it 300 years after the events.

Daniel Erickson, lead writer for BioWare Austin, stated however, that when Revan and Malak met the Sith Emperor, he did indeed turn them to the dark side and used them as pawns to conquer the galaxy, or at least establish a hold in the galaxy for when the Sith Empire would return. Seems that BioWare prefer to keep characters more black and white, over grey, complex, and infinitely more interesting.

It seems to me all they did was go with the ending in Kotor 1 where Revan redeemed himself and destroyed Malak and the Star Forge then later remembered the Siith Emporer he had served before.

Well KOTOR 1 didn't say anything about Revan remembering the Sith Empire and going off to find it. That came later on in KOTOR 2 through conversations mainly with Kreia. Also, neither of the KOTOR games ever mentioned him meeting a Sith Emperor... just that he found the Sith Empire.
