are aliens real

I think there are aliens but probably nothing like the ones in the movies. I;m guessing they would be some sort of bacteria or something that makes them able to live on another planet. For it one thing is true in this universe.

But if they did some how get here to earth i have a feeling things wouldn't be good. Let's take history for example. People other then the natives discover the Americas and Africa. Most of the colonies either were at war with the natives, they tricked the natives causing falls of entire native empires, or they enslaved them. Also for them to actually come here and land they would need spacesuits like we need suits to go to other planets.

Or we could discover aliens before they discover us. Thats just my pinons on the topic.

I think there is life out there, simply because there are so many planets that at least one other has to be able to support life.
And I doubt any of them are like in the movies

I am going to answer yes.... HOWEVER I do not think there are any aliens with anywhere close to the same intelligence as humans.

I definitely believe yes. Anyone who doesn't is a fool. There is no chance that in this universe, with its billions of planets and millions of galaxies, that there wouldn't be other life.

I would think that there are sentient races as smart or even smarter than us. It's probably very likely, considering how old the universe is, and how much we ourselves have advanced in such a short time.

Disagree about the sentient species part... While there most certainly were or will be sentient aliens somewhere at some time, I don't think any will be sentient during the life span of humans.

The probability of life on any given planet is very low... but because there are so many billions of planets that would still make for a great number of planets that could have life. Then you have to factor in that of the estimated 10 billion species that have ever lived on earth, only 1 has become sentient... and it has only been alive for about 200,000 years of the Earth's almost 5 billion year old history.

I'm not saying there hasn't ever been or will be other sentient species in the universe... only that if one was alive during the extremely short life span of humans it would be a miracle.

Those are all good points... though my argument still stands.

I'm sure that there are far older planets than our own and it is entirely possible that many have had life evolve by adapting to a certain planet's environment. That doesn't change the fact that it is a long process to gain sentience that doesn't happen often(e.g only Dolphins an humans on Earth)... meaning that I don't believe that there are other sentient beings.

Though I could easily be wrong... with the universe as big as it is it wouldn't surprise me either way.

The Sentience I'm talking about is the one people usually refer to in Science Fiction, with human level of intelligence and such. What you would call a lot of Star Wars species, like the Twi'lek, or Rodian. Here's a more in-depth description of what I mean:

I dont see any reason why we there couldent be other life out there that rivals our intelligence. But i dont think theres some super advanced race out there or anything but if we have made as much progress as we have why not others. Heck maybe there are other planets full of humans and other species similar to our own.
