| Thought I would make a thread for this, as surely I can't be the only person not looking forward to this game. I loved the original way back when, and now with a similar graphics and gameplay engine to the likes of Empire and Napoleon, it promises to be an epic game. Here is a trailer released recently featuring in game footage: AwesomesauceTrailerThey boast that the trailer is in game graphics. That is good. Amazingly good. So good I'm actually finding it hard to believe that is in fact what the game will look like. Regardless, I can not wait for this game to come out. Anyone else as excited as I am? | |

| I'm excited. I need a new computer to run it. They look like in game graphics, the Napoleon ones were like that at least.

| Looks cool. I'm terrible at Total War Games though. I'll probably try the demo and ,once again, and find out I suck at it. But it looks good. | |

| Looks good, I used to love strategy games like Romance of the three kingdoms, and an old one called Shingen the ruler.
For some reason after playing the newer ones these day I get bored quickly.
Hey wouldn't it be cool if Bioware made on of their big budget RPG's set in Feudal Japan? Not really like the mythilogical style of Jade Empire though.
Hmmm maybe it wouldn't work the more I think about it.

| I'm a big fan of the total war series but I'm of the opinion that the series has been going downhill since after Rome. Hopefully Shogun 2 will be different.

| Hmm, I had prefered Rome Total War II though. Never played shogun. And I agree with Darc, Rome was one of the best Total War games ever made in my opinion. Medieval II was ok, but I didn't like the ages with all the guns and all. Strategy games like the Total War series are way more fun to see with melee combat . | |

| Well don't know if anyone has seen it yet but there is a new video: Battle Report #1This looks great, the weather effects are amazing and I love seeing a close up of a Samurai finishing move. Going to be great fun. | |

| Aye, definitely looks like a great game. Loving not only the superb graphics, but all the advanced and "human" AI and tactics. Makes it feel far more realistic than a regular RTS and like a true battle fought in the times of the Samurai. | |

| Oh how I do long for this game.
And when the game comes out, I challenge each and every one of you to an online battle. Not because I am particularly great at it, but because playing against a human opponent is just totally awesome.

| I'll probably check out the demo tonight. I'm going to be awful at this, however. I've spent quite a while getting used to the line-and-formation gunpowder tactics of Napoleon:Total war. It'll be quite a switch to get back into the melee/archer/cavalry system of the older games. (and I'll undoubtedly miss my cannons ). I'll have to remember back to my Medieval and Rome days where cavalry were a powerhouse offence unit rather than an oh-shit-don't-charge-those-line-infantry unit. I've never played the original Shogun (I started with Rome) so I'm flying blind here. | |

| Ahhhh so tempted to buy this game but really shouldn't, maybe buy it end of May. When I do get it (because I will one day) I accept any challenge! Though I am not great at the battle side of it, teh management side I am so if it is a co-op game hopefully I will do ok. If it is just a battle against eachother I will go for the suicide tactics and just charge | |

| I was just reminded of my friend's "amazing" strategy from Rome:Total War. On a battlefield with a central river (with one bridge) he decided to completely fill his army with war dogs, ignore the bridge entirely, and send them all swimming en masse across the river in an effort to overwhelm my army.
Not the best tactic ever (since the dogs got thoroughly poked by my spearmen), but definitely the most hilarious total war battle I've been involved in. It was like some bizarre canine recreation of the Normandy Landings.
Dogs. Dogs everywhere.

| AH! the dogs days landings
Never been overly good at these types of games, though Rome total war I did enjoy witnessing a army of flaming pigs storm enemy fort....*flash back, yelling of soldieries, bombs dropping for some reason then the sound of the charge followed the sounds of flaming pigs squealing towards the enemy*
.....dark days indeed......

.....dark days indeed...... I did that once online. They all hid in the forrest and the enemy allowed his army to lose formation through searching for me. I then unleashed on masse like 1000 flaming pigs of terror on him. A very large chunk of his army decided to flee without any casualties. "OH SH*** WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" I don't know which lasted longer, the resulting server lag or my diabolical laugh.

| Just played the demo for a while there and... I LOVE IT <3
Basically, the demo gives you the campaign tutorial (which gives you command of the Chosokabe clan as you try to unify your little island) which also has battle tutorials within. Looking very nice so far! Oh, and the Capaign map spins! Yaaaaayyy!
You also get access to the Historical battle of Sekigahara, commanding the forces of Ishida Mitsunari. Very fun battle. I am ashamed to admit, but I had a hard time getting used to this style of fighting after spending God-knows-how-long adapting myself to line infantry tactics and gunpowder in Empire and Napoleon.
Good download in my books, even though I was always sure I was getting the game anyways.
